OBJECTIVES

Nationwide Assessment of Cardiovascular Risk Factors:
B
lood Pressure, Blood Lipid, and Blood Glucose,
in Chinese Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
CCMR - 302- 3B STUDY

Primary Objectives:

To evaluate the level of control of CVD risk factors, including blood pressure, blood lipid, and blood glucose, in outpatients with type 2 DM in 6 representative regions in China: Northeast, North, East, South, Southwest and Northwest, in three tiers of hospitals: tier 3 (primary or teaching hospitals), tier 2 (secondary or city level hospitals), and tier 1 (community hospitals/health centers), measured by,

i.       Proportion of patients reaching adequate control of blood glucose

ii.     Proportion of patients reaching adequate control of blood glucose and blood pressure, or blood glucose and blood lipid

iii.    Proportion of patients reaching adequate control of all 3Bs, i.e. blood glucose, blood pressure, and blood lipid.

Secondary Objectives:

Objective 2: To assess the proportion of microvascular and macrovasclar diabetic complications in outpatients with type 2 DM, by recording the presence and history of following conditions:

Ø Cardiovascular disease (i.e, coronary artery disease)

Ø Cerebrovascular disease (i.e, ischemic stroke)

Ø Peripheral vascular disease

Ø Renal insufficiency or nephropathy

Ø Retinopathy

Ø Neuropathy

Following parameters and conditions will also be measured and recorded:

Ø  Proportion of patients with abnormal urinary albumin to creatinine ratio

Ø  Proportion patients with obesity

Ø  Proportion of patients with smoking history

Ø  Proportion of patients with metabolic syndrome

Objective 3: To assess the real-life treatment patterns in outpatients with type 2 DM

Ø  Glucose-lowering treatment

Ø  Lipid-regulating treatment

Ø  Antihypertensive treatment

Ø  Treatment of various diabetic complications

Objective 4: To assess the proportion of hypoglyecemia under the current treatment

Objective 5: To assess the influencing factors (hospital classification, regional distribution,
medical history, educational level and others) on DM treatment results.
