Execution of CCMR is divided into four phases: initiation, data collection, data analyses, and data reporting. These four phases are interrelated and could be overlapped. The initiation phase primarily includes planning and launch of CCMR. The launch is scheduled in October 2008. The data collection phase starts when the first individual study is initiated. Data analyses include not only on data collected from prospective studies but also retrospectively completed studies. Data reporting and publication are executed immediately after the completion of data analyses.

The execution of CCMR is expected to have a tremendous impact on management of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases in China. It will bring about more knowledge regarding unmet needs in current diagnosis, therapeutics, and disease management; demonstrate more opportunities to enhance the use of advanced technologies and therapies; reinforce the practice of evidence based medicine; and ultimately improve the quality of patient care.
